BUYING HAPPINESS AND DOORS TO UNIVERSES: An E-Commerce Simulation

Image
Exhibit A: Picture of me (that I forced my sister to take) pretending to read a book because the main point is to flaunt them. They're my babies that allow me to transcend universes. If I were to be completely honest, I only used this simulation as an excuse to buy one of the volumes of the "Tian Guan Ci Fu" (TGCF, English: Heaven Official's Blessing) book series that I do not have yet. It's one the book series I'm trying to collect the hard copies of. Seven Seas Entertainment is bound to publish the last two volumes before 2024. I was super excited to buy it — the 7th Book, to be specific... even if I was actually struggling with money. I tried my best to save a part of my allowance for this because I know, no matter what, it will be worth it. It's my favorite romance novel ever! I read its epub file back in 2019 and I wanna elaborate but I will be gushing forever once I start. Anyway, in my defense, I only spend my savings at the end of the month or th...

JEZ'S QUALIFICATIONS CHECKPOINT: How would I consider someone as a digital citizen?

There are technical ways to identify and define a digital citizen. The digital society, in my own definition, is a virtual subset of an actual, living society that includes individuals, families, groups and communities that participate and engage with one another in the use of digital tools and technology while upholding the associated laws, norms, ethics and etiquettes.  Going by that self-constructed definition, digital citizenship is simply being a part of such society; which, by chunk, also means that a digital citizen is: (a) an individual who is a part of an actual, living society (b) an individual makes use of digital tools and technology (c) an individual who upholds the laws, norms, ethics and etiquettes of the digital society In my opinion, for this case, being a person who's a part of an actual, living society can already be a huge determinant to be considered as a digital citizen. An individual's life condition is largely influenced by their environment; or the soci...

SECURING SAFETY AMIDST IMPERFECTIONS: My Ways of Mitigating Risks in E-Commerce

Haven't we always heard, "money is the root of all evil"? Take for example a dollar bill — it's flimsy and thin but it means and equates to so much more than just mere numbers. The way this hybrid of cotton and linen urges people to do malevolence is terrifying to say the least. Times evolved and along with that was most all worldly things. Money could be expressed in many ways now: it isn't just a collection of bills, or cash, it could be intangible and invisible. Times evolved... and so did the ways evil perpetuates in the lives of humans. Ultimately, it seems that money is the reason why risks exist in e-commerce. It's all about how far people would go in order to gain. This is where the scams come in; and all sorts of deception. However, these risks could also be due to the limitations of human capabilities and automation efficiencies; as well as factors we could not really control like those in relation to delays in shipping and deliveries (i.e. weather, ...

"I DON'T OWN ANYTHING BUT MY VOICE": The Role of Multimedia and Copyrighting in my Youtaite Experiments

Image
I kind of already exposed myself on one of the entries here so I feel a bit hesitant to talk about this again. I used to be an aspiring "Youtaite". I got strung along when I was 17 years old when I first learned about the existence of this...community. It was the only time I could not deny that I, too, could be easily influenced. To be broad and simple, "Youtaite" are people who sing covers of Japanese songs on Youtube and who conceal their true identities with avatar representation and an associated username. "You" is from Youtube, "utaite" is a sort of abbreviation or a shorter derivation from the Japanese term, "utattemita" ( 歌ってみた ) that means "tried to sing". The songs covered are most particularly those that are sung by AI voice personalities known as "Vocaloids". I don't want to delve deeper on that because it's a whole another topic but if it wouldn't be so bad to act upon tickled curiosity. One m...

LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP: Some thoughts about the Internet or Web

Just like most of technologies in the world, the internet or the web has gone so far. I came a long way and as it was being developed to the way it is now, for sure there had been bumps and jagged corners where it was subjected to criticism. With the years of research and study, the cumulative efforts of thousands of people, one could say that the internet is, more often than not, considerably more reliable nowadays. The downside of its reach and ubiquity however lies in the excessive freedom it gives to people. You could notice that basically anyone can post anything on the web and with just a few clue words, they could be accessed, regardless whether the information there is credible or not; safe or not. The net can easily give you the information that you want; however, they might not exactly be the information that you need. One of the few mistakes people make while using the internet nowadays is searching up the diagnosis for a wide range of signs and symptoms. Honestly, I do that...

SOCIAL MEDIA, and the things I associate it with

Things that come to my mind when I hear "Social Media": 1. Theatre Stage It's a place where people could made a persona (or a lot of personae) and assume a number of roles according to that persona. I know about this so much because that is basically how I use social media all the time. This is most especially true with my Instagram accounts. I have that one account that is reserved for my real life events. That account has my name and photographs. On the other hand, my other IG account is made for my artworks. My username can't really identify me and I am even using an illustration for my display picture. Eversince I decided to use that account for art and when it started gaining more followers, I had never shown my face in pictures there. I like the sense of anonimity and mystery it offered. 2. Dump Site Of course, haha! This one is what I've always heard about X (formerly Twitter). If you wanna hear juicy gossips about some celebrities, you can just go there, s...
